Post Malone acquires stake in Envy Gaming – SportBusiness

Post Malone, the popular American rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer, has acquired an undisclosed stake in leading esports organization Envy Gaming.

Envy Gaming owns and operates several esports teams, including multisport franchise Team Envy as well as Dallas Fuel of the Overwatch League and Dallas Empire of the Call of Duty League.

Post Malone is an avid video game fan who grew up in North Texas, where Envy Gaming is based.

“I grew up in Texas and I’ve been gaming my whole life, so this just really felt right,” Post Malone said in a statement. “I have always wanted to be a part of bringing gaming into the professional sports world so to be involved with what Envy is doing in my hometown feels like such a perfect fit.”

Adam Rymer, the Envy Gaming chief executive, added: “Post Malone is a cultural icon who brings a massive fan following to everything that he does, whether it’s music, entertainment or gaming.”

Envy Gaming also announced a multiyear renewal of a wide-ranging partnership with restaurant chain Jack in the Box, which first began in 2017.

The San Diego, California-based company will continue to serve as the official quick service restaurant of Envy Gaming and the primary jersey sponsor of the Dallas Empire and the Dallas Fuel under terms of the new deal.

The brand adds associate sponsorship of Team Envy teams competing professionally in Valorant, Super Smash Bros, Rocket League, Halo, and Counter-Strike, including the Team Envy franchise that is a founding member of the Flashpoint tournament series.

Envy Gaming recently announced a partnership with Belong Gaming Arenas to design, build, and operate at least one co-branded flagship gaming center as well as multiple smaller gaming centers in the North Texas region.
