SEWARD, NE — The Leyton Warriors finished in the runner-up spot in Rocket League at the state esports tournament at Concordia University. 

The Warriors were the third-seed in a 12-team bracket. All of Leyton’s contests in the tournament were best 3-out-of-5. 

Leyton received a bye in the first round and defeated Wynot 3-0 to advance to the semifinals. 

The semifinals and championships were held at Concordia University in Seward, Neb. over the weekend. In its semifinal match, the Warriors took down the 2 seed East Butler 3-2. 

In the championship, Leyton took on top-seeded Silver Lake.

Silver Lake won the match 3-1 to send Leyton home with silver medals. 

Leyton competes in Division 4 for esports. What division a school is in is based off the size of the school. 

Tournaments and championships are organized through the Nebraska Schools esports Association (NSeSA). 

About 50 schools across the state are a part of the NSeSA. Other panhandle schools who compete in esports include Bayard, Gering and Ogallala.
